Group Coaching Packages: Are they dead because of AI?

Information has been free for a long time.

But AI changed the experience of accessing it.

You don’t have to search anymore. You don’t have to think about where to look, what to trust, or how to piece things together. You just ask — and it’s there. Clean, structured, instant.

And that shift quietly raised the bar for anyone selling information inside a coaching program. Especially group coaching programs.

Because now, if what you’re offering is mostly information, people can feel it. And they’re starting to question it.

The Real Shift: AI Raised the Floor

Most coaches weren’t actually at risk of being replaced by AI.

Because coaching was never about information. It’s about being seen, being understood, and being guided through something that feels messy and unclear when you’re inside it.

That hasn’t changed.

But what has changed is this: if your offer relies heavily on delivering information — especially inside group coaching packages — you’re now competing with something that does that faster, cheaper, and without friction. And people know it.

Why Group Coaching Packages Are Starting to Struggle

A lot of group coaching packages are built like this: weekly calls, a curriculum, some level of support, maybe a Q&A.

On paper, it looks valuable.

But when you actually step inside, it’s mostly information.

And the problem isn’t that the information is bad. It’s that information alone rarely gets people to move.

People don’t get stuck because they don’t know what to do. They get stuck because they don’t do it. Or they overthink it. Or they spiral. Or they hit something internal they don’t know how to navigate.

And that’s the part most group programs don’t really hold.

I Know This Because I Lived It

I ran a group coaching program for a while. It was good — the content was solid, the people were engaged, and the results were real. But at some point I had to be honest with myself.

It was making the same money as my 1:1 work. And it took significantly more effort to launch, fill, and run.

My 1:1 funnel, by comparison, was almost effortless.

So I made a decision. I dropped the group program and went all in on 1:1. Not because group coaching is dead — but because that model, for my business and my goals, wasn’t working.

And here’s what I noticed when I made the switch: 1:1 attracted a different type of client. More committed. More ready to invest in themselves.

And the results? Honestly, both group and 1:1 clients got results when they actually did the work. But the 1:1 clients moved faster, got more specific support, and needed far less from me to stay in motion.

I made the switch because I wanted to build a business that earns six figures working four hours a day. 1:1 was the fastest path there. Group coaching packages, the way most people run them, simply weren’t.

The Real Problem: Theory Without Application

Here’s something I see constantly as a marketing coach for coaches.

I work with people who are highly qualified. Marketing degrees. Years of experience in corporations. They know their theory inside out.

And yet they cannot get their own marketing to work when they set up their coaching practice.

It’s not because they lack information. It’s because they don’t know which strategy is right for them, based on their personality, their experience, their target audience, and the kind of business and lifestyle they actually want to build.

That’s not something a typical group program can give you. And it’s definitely not something AI can give you, well, not really.

AI can tell you the ten best content strategies for coaches. But it can’t tell you which one you’ll actually stick to. It can’t tell you that you hate being on camera, that you write better than you speak, or that your dream clients are most likely to find you through LinkedIn rather than Instagram.

That requires someone who knows you.

The Hidden Cost of Too Many AI Options: Curation Fatigue

There’s something else happening that nobody talks about enough.

AI is creating a new kind of overwhelm.

Not from lack of information but from too much of it.

Ask it how to grow your coaching business, and you’ll get ten strategies, fifty ideas, and multiple directions you could take. And suddenly you’re stuck again. Not because you don’t know what to do, but because you don’t know what not to do.

I see this constantly with my clients especially those who have a touch of ADHD or who are simply sensitive to overwhelm. Too many options without real knowledge of your specific business makes it almost impossible to prioritize.

And without that human understanding of why one path is more valuable than another for you, the motivation to act just isn’t there.

Here’s the other piece: if an idea hasn’t been proven to work by someone else who is doing it right now, in a similar situation, it’s very hard to commit to it. And if there’s no one to pick you up when you stumble, most people won’t start at all.

That’s not a willpower problem. That’s a support structure problem.

The Implementation Gap

AI is incredible at telling you what to do.

But it can’t step in when you don’t follow through.

And that’s where coaching actually lives.

Because most people don’t struggle with knowing. They struggle with overthinking, procrastination, self-doubt, and the emotional blocks that show up the moment something starts to actually matter.

A client can have the perfect plan, they got it from AI. It’s clear, structured, and logical. And still, they don’t execute. Not because the plan is wrong. But because something internal is in the way: fear, doubt, resistance, old patterns.

AI will give you another plan. A coach will stop and ask: “What’s really going on here?”

That’s a very different experience.

But AI Can Personalise Now, Right?

Yes — to a point.

You can feed it your goals, your habits, your business data. You can give it context.

But personalisation isn’t just data.

It’s sensing what’s not being said. It’s noticing the hesitation in your voice. The way you keep avoiding one specific decision. The shift in your energy when something actually matters.

That’s not data. That’s human.

And for coaches who work in the transformation space, this gap is everything.

Yes, Community Matters. But Let’s Be Honest.

People don’t just join group coaching packages for information. They join for accountability, shared experience, and momentum. And that’s real.

But here’s the truth most people don’t want to say out loud: most group programmes don’t actually create real accountability.

Being on a Zoom call with 15 to 20 people, cameras off, barely speaking — that’s not accountability.

Watching other people post wins in a group chat doesn’t automatically create momentum.

Real accountability is someone noticing when you disappear. Someone calling you out. Someone tracking your patterns over time and not letting you hide in them.

That rarely happens in large, low-touch groups. And if the community element isn’t genuinely strong, what you’re left with is information delivery — which AI does better.

The Price Gap Reality

There’s a huge gap in the market right now.

On one end: a €20/month AI tool. On the other: a €5,000+ 1:1 coaching container. In the middle: group coaching packages priced at €500 to €1,500.

AI is eating the bottom. 1:1 still dominates the top.

So what happens to the middle? It doesn’t disappear. It evolves.

The programs that survive won’t be the ones with the best slides or the most content. They’ll be the ones that actually hold people through change. Less teaching. More intervention. More depth. More presence.

The Future: Hybrid Coaching

Group coaching isn’t dying. But low-touch, information-heavy programs are.

The model that’s emerging looks different. AI handles the curriculum, the content, and the basic questions. The coach steps in for breakthroughs, emotional blocks, decision-making moments, and the times when someone is about to quit.

Less teaching. More transformation.

This is actually an upgrade for coaches who are willing to make the shift. It frees you from being a content machine and puts you back in the seat where you’re most valuable — the human in the room who can read between the lines.

How to Create Your First Hybrid Coaching Program

Step 1: Define the Outcome (Not the Content)
Start by getting ruthlessly clear on the result your program delivers. Strip away all the “what I could teach” thinking and focus only on what clients need to achieve. This becomes your anchor for everything else.

Step 2: Break It Into Execution Sprints
Design the program as a series of short, focused sprints. Each sprint should lead to one tangible outcome or asset—like a defined niche, a validated offer, or a content system. The goal is progress you can see, not information you consume.

Step 3: Offload Information to AI or Resources
Remove heavy teaching from your live sessions. Use AI, templates, or simple resources to deliver the foundational knowledge, so clients can access it instantly without slowing down the program.

Step 4: Use Live Time for Custom Analysis
Turn your coaching calls into decision-making and intervention spaces. This is where you apply your experience, give personalised feedback, and help clients course-correct based on what’s actually happening in their business.

Step 5: Reduce Overwhelm With Simplicity
Keep each sprint tight and focused. Limit the number of tasks, give clear priorities, and remove unnecessary options. Clients should always know exactly what to do next.

Step 6: Build in Experience Transfer
Don’t just teach what works—show how you think. Share why you’d choose one strategy over another, based on real scenarios. This is how clients develop judgment, not just knowledge.

Step 7: Create Peer Collaboration and Support
Design structured moments for clients to interact—check-ins, feedback loops, shared progress. This builds accountability, momentum, and a sense that they’re not doing this alone.

Step 8: Anchor Everything in Results and Speed
Every part of the program should drive execution, fast decisions, and visible progress. By the end, clients shouldn’t just feel like they learned something—they should have built real assets and moved forward with clarity and momentum.

Frequently Asked Questions About Group Coaching Packages and AI

Is AI actually replacing coaches?

No — but it is replacing a certain type of coaching offer. If your program is primarily delivering information through pre-recorded content or lecture-style group calls, you’re competing with AI now. If your offer is built around transformation, accountability, and human pattern recognition, AI is not your competition. It’s actually a tool that can make you more efficient.

Why are group coaching packages struggling to fill?

Several reasons are converging at once. Buyers are more discerning. AI has given them access to information they used to pay for. And many group coaching packages — if you’re honest about what’s inside them — are structured information delivery with light-touch community. That’s a harder sell in 2025 and 2026 than it was in 2020.

Is 1:1 coaching more effective than group coaching?

It depends on what you mean by effective. In terms of speed of results and depth of personalization, yes 1:1 tends to win. A client in a group program gets a curriculum designed for the average person. A client in 1:1 gets a strategy built around their specific personality, goals, and circumstances. That’s a fundamentally different experience.

How do I know if my group program is worth keeping?

Ask yourself honestly: if you removed all the information delivery from your program, what’s left? If the answer is a strong community, live personalised feedback, genuine accountability, and real human intervention, you have something worth keeping and evolving. If the answer is “not much,” it might be time to rethink the model.

Can AI help coaches with their marketing?

Yes and no. AI is excellent for generating ideas, drafting content, and helping you think through strategy. But it can’t tell you which strategy is right for your personality, your audience, and the kind of business you want to build. And for many coaches particularly those who are prone to overwhelm or have ADHD tendencies, getting fifty AI-generated ideas without the context to prioritize them actually makes things worse, not better.

What should coaches focus on in 2025 and 2026?

Stop competing on information. Start competing on transformation. Get very clear on what you do that AI cannot — your pattern recognition, your ability to read a client in real time, your lived experience working with dozens of people through the same challenges. That’s where your value lives. Lead with that.

AI didn’t kill coaching.

It just made it very obvious who was only selling information and who actually knows how to help people move.

If you’ve been relying on a group program to deliver content and hoping that’s enough, this is the nudge to go deeper.

The coaches who will thrive in the next few years aren’t the ones who fight AI or ignore it. They’re the ones who understand what they offer that AI never will.
