Coaching Packages Examples: The Only Packages You Need to be Highly Profitable
New coaches always get this wrong [this is why I’m adding specific coaching packages examples to this post].
I’ve worked with coaches that had 7 packages ready to sell in their first 3 months of coaching!
Others who have 1 package with everything they can do for their clients squeezed into it
Both approaches are wrong – because they are extremes.
You can have a highly successful coaching business and make your first 6 figures with just 2 packages, it’s all about finding the right packages and getting the right coaching clients for them.
Yes, 2 packages are all you need. But they need to be the right ones!
You can only be happy with your business if you’ve worked out the math and it’s all profitable
Here are 2 Coaching Package Examples for a Profitable Coaching Practice: The ONLY two packages you need
(these examples can work for life coaches, career coaches, divorce coaches, business coaches, etc)
Coaching Package Example #1: The staple 6 (or 8) week packages [Average Price range: $1,500 – $2,800]
As a new coach, the 6 or 8-week coaching package is your bread and butter package. It is the less expensive one of your two packages and delivers a very clear outcome.
The 6 to 8-week coaching package is the one most clients will opt for if it’s your shortest one. Many prospects will find a commitment of 3 or 6 months with a coach they don’t know yet a bit of a risky decision. The 6-week package exists to soften this stance and propose a first step before committing to long-term coaching.
It allows them to ‘try’ you out and it allows you the opportunity to show your expertise, build a relationship and deliver some valuable outcomes.
It is ideal if you create a blueprint or your own Signature process – but if you don’t have this at first it’s fine. Working with more clients will help you define your process and create it at a later date.
Here’s an example of a 6/8 week program:
Content:
Mapping/Assessment session
Goal setting exercise
1 x 60-minute coaching sessions weekly (+ session recordings and/or notes)
Email support for 8 weeks
Voxer/WhatsApp support in between
WorkBook, Journal + meditations
1. Start with a mapping call (especially if you’re new). Book a free onboarding call with your new client and ask as many questions as possible to understand where they are and where they want to go. Understand what their main stumbling blocks are and keep digging until you can clearly see how you can help them.
2. Customise the sessions to reach their goals
3. Share any onboarding information/guides/swipe files with them. (These are resources you created earlier in the form of pdf guides, audio files, mini training, anything that can support your clients.)
4. Make sure you focus on achieving their most important goals.
Coaching Package Example #2. The 3 or 6 month package coaching package example [Average Price range: $3,000 – $8,000]
Whether you pick the 3 or 6-month package depends on what you offer and how long it takes most of your clients to see results. This is the package that is designed to fully support and help your client.
This is the package that leaves no space for failure for your client. They get your best support, your most in-depth training, and as much time as they need to fail, try, ask and try again.
This package has a lot of value and makes people feel ‘carried’ through the process. The price needs to reflect the amount of support you will give them. And the way you sell it should leave no questions answered, no doubt that you will assure results/outcomes.
Here’s an example of a 3-month program:
Content:
Mapping/Assessment session
Goal setting exercise
1 x 60-minute coaching sessions weekly (+ session recordings and/or notes)
Email support for 4 months
Voxer/WhatsApp support in between
WorkBook, Journal + meditations
Free mini-courses
Emergency Skype calls when needed
1. Start with a mapping call (especially if you’re new). Book a free onboarding call with your new client and ask as many questions as possible to understand where they are and where they want to go.
2. Goal setting: Customise the sessions to reach their goals. Work out all the main stepping stones they need to get to their biggest goals.
3. Create a collaborative environment where the client has the confidence that with your help they can reach their goals. If they believe they can do it, half the battle is won.
3. Why only 2 coaching packages?
It can seem strange or too minimal to have only two packages. Especially with new coaches who often also have a 1 or 2-hour introductory session.
Having only these two packages will help you sell more because the lowest price entry point here is 6 sessions. If you have a cheaper option like a $99 45-minute option it may very well sell, but it will be robbing you of bigger sales because anyone with a small doubt will go for the cheapest package.
If you’re just starting out I suggest you offer $99 (45-minute) offers every now and then to get waves of people into your business, but don’t offer it all the time.
Let’s say you’re just starting out – you had 20 discovery calls and close only 2 clients on the 6-week package. Now you can send a special offer of $99 for 45 minutes to all those who didn’t buy.
This can be tricky for you though because you need to find something valuable to deliver during those 45 minutes and also find a way of up-selling them to another package.
So in a nutshell – it’s ok to sell smaller packages but don’t let them steal ‘sales’ from your bigger packages and when you do sell them make sure you get value back by up-selling them to another package and asking for a quick testimonial – these two things will make the single sessions worthwhile.
If you can’t make them worthwhile for you and/or your client just omit this and keep your two main packages. You can offer special prices on that until you start booking more discovery calls.
